Attending the Totally Fabulous Vegan Bake-Off
Where is the Totally Fabulous Vegan Bake-Off?
It’s at The Glass Factory at 99 Sudbury St, Toronto. M6J 3S7
How do I find The Glass Factory?
The Glass Factory/99 Sudbury is located at 99 Sudbury Street, Toronto. This venue is accessible by TTC, we recommend taking the Queen Street West Streetcar to Abell street and then walking one block south (3 min).
How much does it cost to attend?
Tickets go on sale in February 2018, stay tuned for details.
Is there a special price for kids? Do kids need a ticket?
I have a food allergy or gluten intolerance, can I attend?
We really hope so! We always include gluten-free categories, although most treats are not prepared in certified gluten-free kitchens. Have a different allergy? We will provide ingredient lists in advance of the event so you know which plates/items you can eat. Please email bakeoff@veg.ca if you’d like to receive it once it is available.
*Note: The ingredient list is subject to change. If you have a severe allergy, please be cautious. We cannot guarantee that treats have not come into contact with allergens in professional or home kitchens*
When should I show up for the Vegan Bake-Off?
We are currently determining the hours of our Bake-Off event.
I have a physical disability. Is this venue an accessible space?
Yes! This is one of the many, many reasons we love the glass factory. It is accessible.
Can I bring my dog / cat / domesticated iguana?
Nope, not even if it’s rescued (thank you for saving a life!). Unfortunately, due to public heath, we cannot allow non-human animals on-site. Also, we really want to avoid your companion being too tempted by delicious things. Avoiding injury and/or catastrophe is pretty high on the list of goals for us.

Participating in the Totally Fabulous Vegan Bake-Off
I want to bake! Can I enter?
Registration for the 2018 info vegan bake-off is now open! Please visit our Registration page here for more information. If you have any further questions, please email bakeoff@veg.ca.
So anyone can enter?ÂÂ
In order to maximize the Total Number of Sweets Available (TNSA), we welcome entries from businesses and bakers throughout the Toronto veg community and beyond. Bakers compete for glory, bragging rights, and prize packs donated by event sponsors. The competition is open to new and existing members of the Toronto Vegetarian Association including donors, volunteers, and staff. With so many dedicated supporters involved, we’ve taken special steps to ensure fairness which can be read below.
How are the winners decided?ÂÂ
The attendees of the Totally Fabulous Vegan Bake-Off decide on the winners for each five-treat category (e.g., cupcakes, cookies, professional, etc.). Our fabulous judges decide the best in show from the winners in each category. While we do not insist in a blind judging process, we trust that most attendees vote for the best-tasting desserts. In order to encourage people to vote for the best treat, the names of the bakers also aren’t included on the ballot.
What steps do you take to ensure fairness?
In order to protect the integrity of the Bake-Off, we’ve taken special steps to ensure that anyone who competes isn’t able to influence the competition. This means that competitors are restricted from influencing or decision making when it comes to plating categories, deciding prizes, or selecting our celebrity judges. We ensure a fair ballot-counting process by ensuring that this process is led by non-competitors (usually TFVBO co-founder Natalie Stephenson) and our Nominating & Governance Committee audits the counting process, just to be safe. The TVA competitions policy restricts staff, board members, and event organizers from competing with the general population. In 2016, TVA staff and board members will compete in a special category.
